| The Reverend Elizabeth Lerner is a life-long Unitarian-Universalist,
raised in a family with both Jewish and Catholic roots. She
graduated from Connecticut College in 1988 and worked briefly
in advertising. She lived and worked in Athens, Greece for
some years before entering Harvard Divinity School.
Liz received her Master of Divinity degree in 1995, and
her Master of Theology degree in 1997. Her areas of academic
interest are ancient Western religion, including ancient Greek
and Roman religion, early Christianity and Hellenistic Judaism,
and the history of women in religion. She is writing an adult
religious education curriculum tracing the history of women
in Western religion, from 2400 BCE to the present. Liz also
works on issues of multiculturalism and ethics in religious
development in our denomination and is President of the organization
Unitarian Universalists for Jewish Awareness.
Before coming to Silver Spring, Liz served UU parishes in
Massachusetts and New York. She was called to be the minister
of our church in the Spring of 2000. Liz leads our worship
most Sundays and is available for pastoral counseling to members
and friends of UUCSS.
