Colesville Meals on Wheels is a
nonprofit volunteer-staffed organization providing low-cost
nourishing meals to those persons in the local community
who are unable to shop or prepare their own food:
- the homebound
- the elderly
- the handicapped
- those recovering from illness, surgery, or accidents.
Food, prepared by Holy Cross Hospital, is delivered Monday
through Friday, except on major holidays and "snow days."
Colesville Meals on Wheels, Inc. began in 1976 as a project
of the Colesville Council of Community Congregations (C-4).
Later Meals on Wheels incorporated as an independent organization.
During the first few years the office was housed in the Unitarian
Universalist Church of Silver Spring. Today the office is
located in the Colesville Baptist Church on Andrews Drive.
