Music is a valued and integral part
of UUCSS. Our goal is a music ministry that is accessible
for everyone through performing and listening. We offer a
wide variety of opportunities with diverse styles and ensembles
designed to enhance the worship experience and strengthen
our community.
Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless
of experience, age, or level of commitment available; simply
bring your enthusiasm!
Sunday Services
Most worship services include live music, either from the
choir or other musicians in our community. Hymns from the
UUA Hymn Book, Songs for the Celebration of Life
are included in almost every Sunday worship service.
On the Sundays when the choir is not singing, music is provided
by musicians within the church or the larger community on
a volunteer basis. We try to coordinate the music with the
theme of the service. Music at services in the past has been
eclectic, ranging from folk singers, to string trios, to Celtic
music, and just about everything in between.
Musicians who are interested in performing should
contact the Music Director for information, and to schedule
a brief audition. Pianists to accompany hymns are always needed
and appreciated.
Braille Hymnal
A Braille hymnal is available for the visually impaired.
It is kept in the coat closet to the right as you enter the
foyer.
Performances at UUCSS by Non-members
Our church space is often utilized for musical and performing
arts events. Some, such as Suite Treat Café,
are sponsored by UUCSS; some are sponsored by other groups
in the community. If you would like to learn more about these
events or to consider holding a performance at UUCSS, please
contact the church office.
