Background
The annual UUCSS AUCTION is one of the church’s most
enjoyable events as well as a terrific fundraiser. It is an evening
of great fun and fellowship at which donations made by UUCSS Members
and Friends are auctioned off to others within the church family.
You may take part in bidding on the extraordinary range of
items that have been donated. You will find everything from “terrific
things;” to parties, outings, brunches, lunches and dinners;
paintings, pottery and other artistic creations; services or lessons
and even baked goods made for sale the night of the Auction or promised
for a later date. It is a great time to socialize informally with
others at UUCSS. Each donated event offers more opportunities to
get to know fellow Members and Friends better.
We hope everyone will put April 26 on their calendar and join in the fun!
How to submit your donations
To prepare for the Auction a UUCSS Telephone Volunteer calls each
household to alert them to the date, encourage them to attend and
request donations. You may submit donations via this web page, by
speaking directly with your Telephone Volunteer, or by visiting
the auction table between Sunday services.
Whether responding to your Telephone Volunteer or submitting by
web page Auction Form, please provide as complete and
specific information as possible to minimize our need to contact
you for further information and to help the potential bidder.
To help us auction off your donation we'll need a brief interesting
description, whether it is a single item, such as a watercolor,
or a group item, such as a bike ride or dinner or party. You may
offer services, lessons, and even baked goods. Just make sure everything
you donate sounds like something you would want to buy! Try to give
us a lively name for your donation. For the names of contributors(s),
it will be really helpful if you will spell peoples' names as they
appear in the church Directory. State a specific date for donations
like dinners, parties, outings, or food goods or services offered
for specific seasons or holidays, etc. Dates are a big help to bidders
and help make your donation much more marketable. Please be sure
to state the number of places (people) you can accommodate, if appropriate.
If you wish, give us an estimated value of your donation to help
set the bidding range.
An Example
Please be certain to include a date, a description of your event or auction item, and the number of places, if relevant. For example:

Spanish, Greek and Turkish tapas (small plates) will be accompanied by a selection of wines and authentic music from the Mediterranean region. Join in the fine Mediterranean tradition of conversation and laughter around the table! - 8 places.
