An Invitation To Deaf People And Their Famlies
UUCSS is a liberal religious community, welcoming people from different
backgrounds and religious beliefs. As a denomination, we affirm
the inherent worth and dignity of every human being. We invite deaf
people and their families who are seeking a spiritual home, to visit
us and see if UUCSS is for you. Sunday services are interpreted
throughout the year. Come meet us!
Volunteer Opportunities
You do not need to know sign language to join the Deaf Access
Committee. If you share our interest in making UUCSS accessible
to the Deaf community, please join us! We need volunteers with
all kinds of skills—writing, marketing, planning, creating
visual displays, designing workshops, coordinating events, and
of most immediate need, grant writing. We also welcome volunteers
for short-term tasks. You can be a member of the Deaf Access Committee,
OR you can be a supporter who contributes to specific projects
or tasks but does not necessarily join the committee.
Attend Meetings of the Deaf Access Committee
The Deaf Access Committee meets on the 2nd Sunday* of each month,
after services (from approximately 12:00-1:30 pm). Meetings are
open to all! Stop by and lend your ideas to our planning…
and consider becoming a member. (*Note: On rare occasions we need
to switch the meeting to a different Sunday. If you are planning
to attend a meeting, we suggest you check with any member of the
Deaf Access Committee or email us at UUCSS Deaf Access to verify
the date.)
