Catoctin Retreat

Every year and for one weekend in October, UUCSS holds its annual fall retreat to the beautiful Catoctin Mountain National Park, around 1.5 hrs from our church, in the direction of Frederick.

You can enjoy the opportunity to form new friendships or refresh established ones. Typically there are a few organized activities/games, but mostly the weekend is R&R time to play games, hike, talk, nap, sing, read, or whatever.

Meals are prepared in groups headed up by volunteer meal coordinators, and each person has a clean-up assignment at the end of the weekend. That's how we manage to do all this on such a shoestring budget! Adults pay approximately $25 per person; children 2 to18 less, and babies under 2 are free. There is even a low maximum cost for families. Cost includes all food and beverages (non-alcoholic), sleeping quarters in shared log cabins, and all activities. Day-trippers are also welcome, or you might want stay in the motel in nearby Thurmont. In both these cases, there is a small charge to cover meals.

UUCSS has been retreating to the Catoctins each fall for many years, and with your participation in this wonderful event, we hope it will go on for many more.
