Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring

The Worship Committee

Sunday morning worship services are at the heart of our Church's activities. The Worship Services Committee works with the Parish Minister and coordinates with the Music, Religious Education, Deaf Access, Sunday Support, and Social Action Committees to help make sure our Sunday morning services provide a meaningful inspirational or spiritual experience for our members and visitors. We meet once a month.

The Worship Committee supports the minister by coordinating schedules, assisting with services led by the minister, developing and implementing ancillary portions of all services, and contributing to the discussion and implementation of liturgy as an expression of liberal religion.

Visiting Ministers & Lay Speakers

The Worship Committee recruits and supports visiting ministers or lay speakers from within and outside our congregation to lead worship services when our minister is not in the pulpit. This includes all summer services. We make sure speakers and service themes address our congregational goals and concerns and that there are opportunities for member participation in worship services.

Your Feedback is Important to Us

We encourage feedback from our members and visitors regarding worship services, and are always looking for suggestions on speakers or worship services. We welcome participation on the Worship Committee by anyone in the Church community with good ideas and a willingness to work to implement those ideas. The Worship Committee can be contacted at worship@uucss.org.

We come from many religious backgrounds, and unite to seek meaning and spiritual deepening, and share faith's essential works of justice and compassion.

If you live in, or are visiting, the area, we'd be glad to have you join us for worship this Sunday. Situated just outside the beltway on New Hampshire Avenue, one of Washington DC's major arteries, we welcome all people to our exciting, pluralistic and growing community.
